William Morris Big Local

William Morris Big Local is a resident-led project that aims to bring together all the talent,  skills and energy from local people, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live. We specifically work in the William Morris ward of Walthamstow – which is the council ward that Creative Works is in. You can see a map of our patch on our website

We are run by a partnership of ten volunteers, who all live in the area. Based on what local people have told us they want, we aim to bring people together, improve outdoor spaces, and support local business. We run social groups and events, fund other people to run events and projects, and are about to open a garden tool lending library – amongst other things!

As well as the volunteer partnership, we currently have two members of staff: Gabriel is our project lead and Helen is comms and admin.

We are part of a network of Big Locals – 150 locations in England which have been allocated £1m of Lottery Funding to make a lasting positive difference in their local area. There’s another one at St James Street.
