Art has the power to do far more than decorate a wall or fill a gallery. It can raise awareness, support important causes, and give talented young people the opportunity to make a genuine difference. That is exactly what Clothes For Action is about.
Created by Fluo Technologies (founded and led by Creative Works member Marco Strillozzi), in partnership with Big Creative Education (BCE), this initiative shows what can happen when people from different backgrounds come together around shared values and a common goal. Art and design students produce original clothing designs with strong social messages, while T-Level Digital students build the online store and lead marketing activity to help those ideas reach a wider audience. Once the designs are complete, they are developed into finished products through ethical production partners and made available via the Clothes For Action platform, where each purchase supports the chosen charities.
One of the things we value about coworking is seeing people come together to make a positive impact. Clothes For Action is a strong example of this, bringing education, business and the charitable sector together in a practical and meaningful way.
Preparing Young Creatives for the Real World of Work
One of the most valuable aspects of Clothes For Action is the chance it gives students to work on a live commercial project, rather than a hypothetical brief that ends in a classroom folder.
Fluo Technologies set a series of real creative briefs tied to specific charities, and BCE Art and Design students designed t-shirts, hats and bags around genuine social messages. Their work did not stop at a grade; it became a product that customers could buy, wear and talk about.
BCE T-Level Digital students took on an equally central role, building the e-commerce platform and shaping the marketing strategy that would bring the designs to a wider audience. Both groups worked to a brief, a deadline and a real audience, much closer to the demands of a professional studio than a college assignment.
This kind of experience matters more than ever. Internships and entry-level roles in the creative industries have become harder to secure across the UK, with fewer paid placements and growing competition for the opportunities that do exist. For students trying to break into design, marketing or digital roles, a project like this offers something many graduates struggle to find early on: a finished piece of commercial work, a portfolio that reflects real client needs, and direct experience of how a creative idea moves from concept to market.

Sustainable Fashion with a Purpose
Fluo Technologies is a certified B Corp and a contributor to 1% for the Planet, committed to extending its impact beyond traditional forms of giving. Rather than limiting its charitable support to business performance alone, the focus is on building a scalable, transparent platform that grows through community participation and collaboration.
With this in mind, Clothes For Action is not just about supporting charities; the initiative has also been developed with sustainability in mind. Working with Teemill, every item is made from certified organic cotton and printed only once someone orders it, so nothing is produced and left unsold. This print-on-demand approach means there is no excess stock, no unnecessary waste, and no unwanted clothing ending up in landfill.
The products are manufactured in UK factories powered by renewable energy, using water-based inks and plastic-free packaging. Even when a garment reaches the end of its life, its materials can be recovered and reused, creating a circular system that keeps valuable resources in use for longer. This approach shows that fundraising for charity doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment. Every purchase supports both people and the planet.

A Campaign That Deserves Our Support
The first Clothes For Action campaign, Safe Futures, supports charities working with people affected by conflict, displacement and homelessness. These include Emergency UK and Centrepoint, with every purchase helping to fund their vital work.
The online store is now live, featuring more than 25 original t-shirt designs created by BCE students. Thanks to the work of the T-Level Digital students, visitors can also see how much money has been raised through sales (in real time), making the impact of every purchase clear and transparent.
Whether you’re looking for an ethical gift, want to champion emerging creative talent or simply support a worthwhile cause, Clothes For Action offers a simple way to make a difference.
As members of a collaborative coworking community, we understand the value of bringing people together around a shared purpose. Clothes For Action is a great example of what can be achieved when education, business and the charitable sector work side by side.
Clothes For Action Officially Launched
On Friday 26 June, Clothes For Action was officially launched at The RSA (the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce).
The launch brought together the people behind the initiative. Marco Strillozzi spoke on behalf of Fluo Technologies, while Alexis Michaelides, founder of Creative Works and Managing Director of Big Creative Training, also addressed the audience. They were joined by Kate Halsall, the Art & Design tutor who worked closely with the students, and Grace Bitner, Communications Officer at Emergency ONG, one of the charities benefiting from the campaign. Many of the student designers were also there, with two sharing their experiences of being involved.
The finished t-shirts were on display and available for purchase, giving guests the chance to see the designs up close while helping to raise funds for the featured charities.
The afternoon was a fitting celebration of the collaboration, creativity and dedication that made Clothes For Action possible.
Now it’s your turn to get involved. Take a look at the collection, support one of the featured charities and help spread the word. You can also sign up for the Clothes For Action newsletter or follow the project on Instagram and LinkedIn for the latest designs, campaigns and behind-the-scenes updates. Every purchase, every share and every conversation helps extend the reach of this inspiring initiative.
